Tarangire National park is home to large herds of elephants and other game including the elusive leopard and over 400 bird species. The parks picturesque landscape is dotted with large baobab trees and it gets its name from the Tarangire River that crosses through the park. During the dry season (from August to October) the river is the only source of water for the animals.
